Proudly serving the largest concentration of military personnel in the world, the USO of Hampton Roads has been enhancing the quality of life of, and public support for, military families throughout Southeastern Virginia for more than 24 years. Sixteen employees and more than 750 volunteers enable the USO of Hampton Roads to offer morale-boosting programs, family outreach and information and referral services to more than 250,000 military members and their families each year. The center also serves many deploying military members through the AMC Terminal at Naval Station Norfolk and Langley Air Force Base, Va.

The USO of Hampton Roads recently opened a new location at the Naval Mobilization Processing Site (NMPS) on Norfolk Naval Base. Now with nine operating locations, the USO of Hampton Roads offers service at the AMC Terminal at Norfolk Naval Station, Fort Eustis, Fort Monroe (Administrative Office and Huntington Hall Supship in Newport News), Naval Air Base Little Creek in Virginia Beach, Norfolk International Airport, Newport News\Williamsburg International Airport, the NMPS on Norfolk Naval Base and Wallops Island.

USO-Kings Dominion Day for Special Needs Children

I just wanted to thank you again for such a WONDERFUL day for me and my children. We really enjoyed ourselves. It is a blessing for something like this to happen. We had such a great time and it took our minds off of my husband being gone and just gave us a day that we couldn't have afforded to have otherwise! Everyone from the USO was wonderful and made us feel special and important. Words cannot express, but know that you helped to lift our spirits and gave all of us a gift. God Bless you!

Rachel Dinges (Jaxton, Emme Jo & Nicolette).

The USO-Kings Dominion Day for Special Needs Children program began more than 14 years ago to provide a respite for military families who have children with serious or life-threatening illnesses and children who are wheelchair bound. This program also promotes military family wellness and offers families with special needs children an opportunity to meet and build relationships with other families who understand the unique challenges they face daily. It also enhances morale and strengthens ties between our military and civilian communities.

The USO of Hampton Roads, Kings Dominion, and the Joint Services Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) Committee make it possible for these families to enjoy a day out together, complete with free admission, parking, a picnic lunch and on-call medical and emergency staff. This program serves an average of 20-25 families per military branch, totaling 350-400 participants each year.
